Syncing only specific bookmark folders
Hello.
Is there a way to sync only specific bookmark folders between my PC's and phones? I love the Sync feature in Firefox. But I have many bookmark folders on one PC that I don't want transferred to my other PC nor to my phone. If Mozilla doesn't allow folder-specific syncing, is there an add-on feature that can accomplish this?
Thank you. I appreciate your help. -Brian in Alaska

You could consider multiple profiles where you only have the bookmarks that you want to sync in a profile connected to Sync and use another profile for bookmarks that you do not want to sync.

Unfortunately there is no way to sync specific bookmarks, and I am not aware of an add-on that could accomplish the task you are looking for. You could sync bookmarks to your phone, turn it off on your phone, and then delete the bookmarks you do not want on your phone.
Thanks. I have tried your suggestion in the past. But ultimately, I accidentally caused Firefox to sync in the opposite direction, which deleted critical bookmarks on my other devices. Unfortunately, I have a lot of folders that I need to sync across all devices on a regular basis, while others are specific to each individual device itself. As we all attain more and more devices, maybe someone will develop a more customizable bookmark system someday. For now, I think I’ll try an add-on that allows bookmark folders to be password protected, although that creates more steps to continually hassle with.
Thanks for your response. -Brian in Alaska

Hmm. That just might be a darn good idea. Thanks for the link. I wasn't familiar with the profile manager. Looks like it's pretty easy to toggle back and forth without needing to run multiple copies of the program. This old dog just learned a new trick. I appreciate it.
