Thunderbird says server timed out.
I have latest version of thunderbird, and it keeps saying server timed out.
I have removed the email account and tried to set it up again but now it says "thunderbird failed to find settings for this server". Even though emails are working absolutely fine with webmail on the browser.
We checked the server logs of the hosting and found out that there were 6 failed login attempts from our ip address within 10 seconds (pretty obvious I can't do 6 failed attempts within 10 seconds manually), which made the server ban our ip address. Although the ban is lifted now but still I am unable to login to emails through thunderbird. Host has advised not to login with the same PC or ip address as that may cause the ip to get banned again.
Please advice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

On TB v78 the minimum requirement for SSL has increased and probably your email service provider still uses deprecated security for the mail server. Can you try to set lowest security by following the below steps and let us know how it works? From the menu at the top right, go to Options. Scroll all the way to the bottom and click on Config Editor -> Skip past the warning. Scroll down until you find security.tls.version.min (or paste security.tls.version.min to upper frame) Change the value 3 to 1. Restart TB. If it's still not working you may have to change the preference security.tls.version.enable-deprecated to true
Yes it did work, thank you!
