How to have messages marked as READ after opening in Thunderbird 83.0
When I read messages, Thunderbird no longer marks them as 'READ' I have to do so manually. How do I set it up to mark them as 'READ' automatically after opening?

The release version of Thunderbird is 78.
The Beta or developement testing version is 84 and the nightly developer build is also on 84.
So go to the help menu and select about. What channel are you on?
My bad, wrong version,that is the Firefox version 83.0
