Thousands of strange characters attached to emails?
Some emails have thousands of strange characters attached at the bottom of the email. When I click on these emails Thunderbird hangs up, only way to get out of it is to x out and restart? This started recently but not sure exactly when. Please help. Thank you.

Are the characters preceded by -- ? That could be a signature from the sender that is not an image or html file, but a pdf or docx file.
Most of the emails I receive with all the strange characters at the bottom of the email I can not access after the first time, or it takes several minutes for them to display and in some case when I click on them Thunderbird halts and has to be closed via a windows command? Is there a way to fix this problem? The ones I have been able to look at do begin with a ? Thank you
Post a screenshot if you can. Snip & Sketch is part of W10.
If you can view these messages in webmail, I would just delete them from there, once read.
Only happens on latest beta version of Thunderbird, now running Beta 97.0b3. This problem started with the last few beta versions. As a back up I have Thunderbird running on an older computer its running beta 90.0b3 and these emails display fine there, no problems at all. Problem is I need to keep these emails, it happens to various emails including emails from PayPal, see screen shot of latest Paypal email. I run a non profit and need to keep email payment records. Below is a sample

Does View/Repair Text Encoding have any effect? I wouldn't recommend using the beta version for important mail. It's fine to run the beta for testing, but I'd keep (and I do it myself) the release version 91 as well and run it it in its own profile.
No, View/Repair Text Encoding does not help, tried it several times. TB locks for several minutes while it is trying but it does not help.
I was able to downgrade to version 91.5.1, so no longer using beta version. But bad emails are still a problem. If I click on one TB halts, and I have to use windows command to x out of it. Maybe with this version I hopefully will not get anymore of the bad emails? Thanks for the help.
On the beta mailing list I see this discussion.
The daily list identifies the issue as having started on V94
Then there is this bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1734157
