I’ve been trying to install an ad blocker for FF on my iPad and I’m stuck in an endless loop. I navigate to the add on store and it says I have to install FF, even though it’s installed and set as default. The store has the “open” button, not install or download. I have a 5th gen iPad running 16.6. FF is at ver 117.0.

I ran across a bunch of posts about addons not working but they were from about 4 yrs ago. Here are some screenshots of what happens. Are addons prohibited on an iPad?

Thanks in advance

Yes, addons are prohibited on iPad, due to Apple's restrictions. FF for iPad is just Safari with different frontend.

For blocking ads we have a feature called Enhanced Tracking Protection that helps reduce targeted ads. You can read more about this here: https://mzl.la/3HaVIAf.

Thanks. I couldn't find anything that explicitly stated that and was confused by the thread listing issues back in 2014 (?) where a patch borked everything.

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/ are for desktop Firefox on Windows, Linux and macOS.

https://addons.mozilla.org/android/ are for Firefox for Android.

Maybe at some point in future you could use the Apple extensions in Firefox on iOS/iPadOS.
