How do I stop automatic reload of pages on startup?
Some websites get substituted with a spam site. These sites claim they are checking your computer for viruses. In reality if you click on the pop-up window you install malware. The only way out is to go to the OS and use the task manager to kill Firefox. The next time you try to use Firefox it automatically tries to reload the last pages visited including the malware page. How do I disable the attempt to reload the web pages? If this function is not available it needs to be added to the Firefox program.

Set the pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox. See: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Session_Restore#Preferences http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes
You can create a file user.js in the Firefox Profile Folder and add this line: user_pref("browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes", 0);
@Cor-el.... I tried this but as soon as I tried to go to the about:config page I got a warning that whatever I was about to do might void my warranty. I've had my computer for less than a month so I'd prefer to NOT void the warranty. Is there any other way to keep firefox from autorestoring?
You can consider that warning as some kind of humor from the developers of Firefox.
You can open this page to see another example: about:robots
Firefox doesn't have a warranty and as long as you follow the instructions then nothing will go wrong.
You can look at this mozillaZine Knowledge Base article to see how that page works:

to jamaeger Firefox if FREE. Your computer has nothing to do with it, nor it's "warranty" that is explicitly from either the store you bought it from or the manufacturer. If you screw up your browser, simply uninstall it, us IE to re-download it and re-install. "warranty" lol
