Everytime I open firefox (I have version 3.6.6) it works briefly then hangs and causes my CPU usage to shoot up to 100%. This makes my computer unusable until I close firefox. I really like firefox, but I'm going to switch to Opera or Chrome if I can't get this problem fixed. Can someone help?

FF Hangs after running a few minutes

Got the same problem. It doesn't freeze my PC since it uses 100% of one core - the other core is fine. Firefox hangs then refuses to load any other page. If I try to close out of FF, it does nothing unless I force it to close with Task Manager.

I too have the problem that it frequently, VERY frequently hangs. And sometimes it even consumes up to 100%CPU after it is shut down. Then I have to stop the firefox.exe process manually from the Task Manager. It really is terrible and I can't use my computer in a normal way anymore. There is no way around it, I have to switch to Chrome rightaway!

Search for "plug-in container.exe" in this forum and you'll find a lot of threads in reference to the 100% CPU usage, etc. etc. You might find the answer you want in these threads.
