I am using a proxy to block port 443 and users can bypass the proxy by removing the settings on firefox 6.3.12.

On previous version of firefox a file was edited and the settings were greyed out,but this is no longer the case in this newer version of firefox.

How can I block the user from changing the proxy settings ?

Do you mean using a file mozilla.cfg to lock prefs?

AFAIK then that should still work in Firefox 3.6.12.
Do you still have mozilla.cfg and the file (local-settings.js) that specifies to use that lock file?

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences

Yes ,but will it work in this new version of firefox

There is currently a bug that prevents locking prefs with mozilla.cfg from working in Firefox 4 (there is no greprefs folder or defaults\pref folder), but that should be fixed in one of the next beta's and at least before a release candidate is released.

I will keep the current version and use the mozilla.cfg and local-settings.js to use on 3.6.12.

Thanks for the info
