I am a new Firefox user. I have many web accounts at several websites (established when I was using MSIE) where my passwords use special characters, such as the character "é". I am presently able to log into those web accounts using MSIE, but am unable to log into those same accounts using Firefox.

I have had MSIE and Firefox side-by-side, with Notepad open and the username and password typed out. Using copy-and-paste, I have pasted the username into both browsers, then pasted the password into both browsers. My logins are successful using MSIE, but are unsuccessful using Firefox.

I am experiencing difficulty in this using BOTH WinXP and Windows 7.

Make sure that you paste Unicode and that you do not include a possible trailing line break character. You should also be able to enter special characters if you switch to the US International keyboard layout or use the Alt + number keys to enter the characters.
