Im trying to set it up so hitting the F12 key will enable/disable Addblock Plus because their are some web sites I need it disabled completely on. The preference is already there in the about:config screen but the value is left blank for you to fill in if you want to use the feature. I just need to know what value would represent pressing the F12 Key

To save yourself frustration and possible future conflict with the F12 key, it would be better to temporarily disable ABP with the ABP built-in method,

  • 2 mouse clicks, instead of
    • remove your hand from the mouse,
    • then hit the F12 key,
    • then return to the mouse.

Click on either the toolbar icon or the status bar icon for ABP, then click "Enable Adblock Plus" to remove the check mark. Remember to re-enable it using the same method to place the check mark again.
Note: Just because the F12 key is not being currently used by some other add-on, does not mean that you will not encounter that problem in the future and then not have that functionality in the other add-on.

      • Open the Adobe Reader program from your Programs list
      • Click Help > Check for Updates
      • Follow the prompts for updating
      • If this method works for you, skip the "Download complete installer" section below and proceed to "After the installation" below
    • Download complete installer (if you do NOT have Adobe Reader installed):
      • Use the links below to avoid getting the troublesome "getplus" Adobe Download Manager and other "extras" you may not want

        • Note: Vista and Win7 users may need to right-click the installer and choose "Run as Administrator"
      • Download link: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/
        • Choose your OS
        • Choose the latest #.x version (example 9.x, for version 9)
        • Choose the highest number version listed
          • NOTE: 10.x is the new Adobe Reader X (Windows and Mac only as of this posting)
        • Choose your language
        • Download the file, SAVE it to your hard drive, when complete, close Firefox, click on the installer you just downloaded and let it install.
        • Windows: choose the .exe file; Mac: choose the .dmg file
    • Using either of the links below will force you to install the "getPlus" Adobe Download Manager. Also be sure to uncheck the McAfee Scanner if you do not want the link forcibly installed on your desktop
    • After the installation, start Firefox and check your version again.
  3. Update the Java plugin to the latest version.

F12 is what you need as the string Value for extensions.adblockplus.enable_key

Most of my time on the computer is spent with my right hand on the mouse and left operating the entire keyboard due to only typing less then 10 characters, so its faster to have the shortcut, and the idea is i can disable it while using the mouse for other things rather then stop and click twice to disable. If i do encounter a conflict with the f12 key ill just change it but from what i know/have found pretty much nothing uses the f12 key anymore

Thank You, I did try just typing f12 in before asking this but i made the mistake of not restarting firefox, the change didn't take effect till then. At least you were helpful and didn't just give me the run-around about possible conflicts like everyone else i asked. Thanks agian =)
