Whenever I type a first letter in the search bar, a drop-down list of items beginning with that letter appears. Can I turn off that feature or clear specific items as a matter of privacy?

To disable history from being stored completely in the location bar, do the following.

  1. In the location bar, type: about:config and hit Enter.

  2. In the filter at the top, copy/paste the folllowing: browser.urlbar.maxRichResults

  3. Double click it and delete the current figure and replace it with -1

  4. Close the tab and then test it by typing something.
