Now if only I could fix the Firefox problem of making many areas on certain webpages "invisible"-- nothing seen in some areas except a blank white background. Frequently this invisible area is where active links are-- makes it hard to know what you are clicking on if you cannot see the hot spot! Other browsers looking at the same webpage do not have the problem.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Windows Accessibility settings.

Your problem with the bookmarks was possibly caused by a corrupted file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
