Recently started using Firefox on my MacBook. FF prompts me to download new version (was 6.0.1, now 6.0.2) but when I click to update, FF tries to connect to server to do the update, but just stays at the "connecting to server" dialog box, never completes the upgrade. In About FF in the menu, it says I'm on 6.0 and that I'm on the latest version.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

Yes, that seemed to work this time. Thanks.
