I'm no expert with my computer so I'm unable to troubleshoot this. Many times, but not always, my firefox stops responding for about 20 seconds, the screen fades to white, cursor freezes and the hourglass comes up. In about 20 more seconds it responds and all is well, for another few minuets and then it starts all over again. Also when I'm composing e-mails, the print lags behind my typing, but not all the time. No problem is constant no solution works for long. can anyone help?? keep in mind I'm no expert. not even close.

See:

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.

Try to decrease the value of the pref network.http.max-connections from 256 to 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.
