When I enter passwords into password fields on webpages they appear as plain text rather than asterisks or dots.

This only happens in Firefox, if I use IE (which I really don't want to do!) the passwords are hidden.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

There are other things that need your attention.

You need to update your old graphics display from 9-27-2005 as shown on the *Help > Troubleshooting Information page.
