The URL box automatically drops the http:// or www when it displays a website address. How do I get the full address to display?

I often need to cut and paste the entire correct link, and it's annoying when I can't even tell whether there needs to be an http:// or a www. or both, and then I have to go back and test the link to be sure. Also the link won't go live in Word or Outlook unless it has that syntax in front of it.
