Why does Firefox mount a drive every time it opens in Mac OS X 10.7?
Why does Firefox mount a drive when I start Firefox in Mac OS X 10.7? When I'm done, I have to close the "blue box" every time I close Firefox and that's annoying. Have I done something wrong in installing it?

Try dragging Firefox from that drive to your Applications folder, and open it from there instead.
The "virtual" drive is probably a .dmg (disk image) file that you downloaded to install Firefox. After copying Firefox to your hard drive, you can find the .dmg file (probably in your download folder) and drag it to the trash.

If you downloaded a file to that drive clear it from the Downloads window. Firefox looks for the files that are listed in that window every time it is launched, and it slows the launch time a bit so it is best to keep that list empty or as small as possible.
Firefox may also be looking for installed user fonts on that drive (Font Book > Preferences).
I may have confused people, including myself The "Firefox" drive exists as a virtual drive--it's not physical and I have not stored anything on it. It's an artifact of downloading and installing Firefox.
What's with the blue box I have to close after every Firefox session? I've used Firefox since the original beta release on PCs/Windows and never had this kind of problem. It's just extra work and ***None*** of the other applications I use on my Mac does this.
If you need images, I'll have to provide them later as I don't have access to the Mac while at work.
Thanks.
The only thing on the Firefox drive is the Firefox application--no fonts or anything else.

mbrubeck - thanks; that little extra bit of info helped. Since this is my first Mac, there are some less-than-obvious differences between Windows and the Mac OS that have made some tasks quite confusing. I just download V10.0 and followed your advice and Firefox now runs out of Applications and not off the virtual disk. Thanks.
