Ever since the last update nothing has worked right. I get application crashes all the time, sometimes it freezes, sometimes it get popups for script errors, sometimes it just wont start. Then whilst typing in fields it will jump to a random spot. It's still taking between 250mb and 3 gigs of memory with one window open, it's just turned into a really bad browser, But I do want to congratulate you guys on successfully making it just like the old Internet Explorer.

hello acsmith1972, two quick things you could try is to reset firefox to get a fresh start (but all your bookmarks & and passwords will be kept) and to keep your plugins up to date...

Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Yeah, none of that works, but what I noticed is any site that I have issues on when I check with Chrome and Opera to see if it's the site, it always turns out to be Firefox. I think people need to face it: Firefox sucks nowadays. They're trying to be as much like Netscape Navigator as they can be, and it's working. One big thing that's never been explained from the very beginning is why Firefox uses so much memory. If you leave it alone it will use all your system memory. Right now I just have this one window open and it's using 350mb of memory. FF staff will of course blame the OS, plugins, addons, everyone but themselves, but considering all that stuff works on browsers like Chrome and Opera without memory leaks that just further proves Firefox sucks now.

which of the problems that you have originally described are still present after a reset of firefox?

--

actually, firefox is getting very positive reviews lately in terms of memory consumption... firefox 15 will contain big improvements in fixing common memory leaks caused by addons.

All of them are present. And where is it getting good reviews because of the memory? If it's on a Mozilla forum for hi-fiving Firefox that doesn't count. I have heard every single verson was going to fix the memory problem. It never has. Not once. It has gotten worse a few times. Right now FF is using 292mb. Internet explorer is using 45mb. Opera is using 92mb. Safari is using 26mb.

i've provided the link to those external reviews in my post before in case you are interested...

but back to fixing your problem: please also try launching firefox in safemode once and observe the behaviour in order to rule out issues with hardware acceleration. Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems

also which kind of security software are you using on your pc? please make sure that firefox isn't sandboxed in any way and has full privileges to access the internet without any filtering

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports (bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx).
You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.
You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

You can also check for issues caused by a recent Flash update to Flash 11.3.

Lots of folks are complaining about this incredibly flawed version of Firefox, and guess what? They're absolutely right! The minute I installed 13.01, trouble and lots of it. I've gone back to the previous version and have yet to experience any problems whatsoever. So, until the programmers figure out what is causing these issues, I'll simply stick to this trouble-free version. Let's stop making excuses and listen to people who have legitimate gripes, eh?

more options

Give me a break. First of all, I already said the same stuff happens with it reset and in safe mode. Second of all, stop blaming everyone else. I have when people say "It's not our program, it's because you have minefield on your computer." Total copout. I have MS Security Essntials, JV16, Malwarebytes, CCleaner, Hijack This, and Hard Disk Sentinel. Explain how any of those that work 100% fine with Safari, Internet Explorer, Opera, and Chrome could be causing the specific issue I have with Firefox. And if there are known incompatibilities with Firefox and other programs why not list them on the download page and work on a solution?

more options

Yes, I submitted crash reports. Same problem.

I should mention the last few versions of Thunderbird have sucked also. I used to use it as my mail client, but since one of the most recent upgrades it stopped connecting, or it would connect once out of say every four times I ran the program.

Ever hear the expression if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it? Why Mozilla insists on taking a product when it works better than most, more often than not and releasing new crap versions that work less than Internet Explorer 3 is beyond me.

please copy and paste the latest few crash ids into your next post here...

I agree with acsmith1972 100%. Why? Because every other browser I've used over the past year or so are not giving me the king-sized headaches that version 13.01 has introduced to my browser universe. Enough is enough already. I've tried every suggestion available and the latest version is, well... a migraine. Don't get me wrong, Firefox is (was) my personal favorite, but lately...?

hello nycgriff, if you're having troubles with firefox & want us to look into it, please open up a new question, where you can also provide more details about your system and explain the situation. this will probably work much better than to add a "me too" to an existing thread. thank you!

thanks, but this is the general troubleshooting information - in your case the crash ids would be more interesting. please look at cor-el's answer above in order to retrieve them...

Listen. Practically every critical comment posted here mimics the problems I am having. So what's the point of mindless redundancy? In any event. it's become a moot issue. I plan to temporarily jump off the Firefox ship until these myriad problems are hopefully corrected in the next release. As I've already mentioned, I like and prefer to use Firefox. However, wasting my time mucking around in vain attempts to straighten out Firefox's inner workings is not how I intend to spend my very busy days.. Anyway, thanks for your responses... Be good.

nycgriff i'm sorry, but all you've told us about the problems you're facing is "The minute I installed 13.01, trouble and lots of it" & "king-sized headaches that version 13.01 has introduced to my browser universe".

on that level of description or lack of any details of what's actually going on, how could you expect any solution for it?

more options

Allow me to reiterate. My symptoms are virtually the same as "acsmith1972". And, I've followed the same steps you suggested. At this point, as I stated above, I'll just wait until you good folks introduce an updated version of your browser. (It seems as though one appears every two weeks or so anyway). I've since uninstalled Firefox and am writing this from IE. When the next version of Firefox comes out, I'll reinstall and give you a report. In the mean time, I'm moving on...

Thanks again madperson.

By far this is THE WORST frickin' browser to date! There is nothing good about it. Every time when I load a page, or even a tab, it goes off and my cursor would not respond unless I click on an empty area so the touch pad can initiate for scrolling. When I'm on youtube, my volume (F11 & F12 keys) won't work because it took all the controls off from the page, again, including the cursor. The only way to make it work is to mouse around and then click on an empty area again just to make things function again. Also, Adobe 'Flash' crashes like there is no tomorrow!
