I have been infiltrated with start.search.us. How do I disable? I uninstalled it but it didn't fully remove it.
I believe when I was trying to download 7 zip a malware was added.http://start.search.us.com/. I deleted it via the uninstaller and I've changed my homepage multiple times but it reappears. How do I fully remove this (without paying, if possible?)

Could you check to see whether you have any unrecognized add-ons and disable (or remove) them. In particular:
orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category
Then restart Firefox and try changing your home page again. Does it stick?
You also could paste a list of your extensions here for review. You can copy them from this page:
Help > Troubleshooting Information
It's the second table, which appears below the Extensions heading.
I had this problem too and the easiest way to get rid of this is to first check in your control panel-programs/programs and features - add/remove programs and scroll down the list to search.us ...highlight it and click remove. When asked if you want to restore IE and Firefox to default settings click yes.
If it is not listed in your control panel, open your web browser so the page loads in the search box type anything example firefox when the search page loads scroll down a little and look for the blue link "Download to reinstall" after it downloads reinstall it then go to your control panel and remove as detailed above and the problem will be solved. :) then go to your downloads and delete it.
I removed the extentions and had no luck and I loked for the download to reinstall and no luck?
Hi tigrefire, the following thread has more comprehensive troubleshooting advice and links: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/942805
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
