Good day,

I need to import my bookmarks from a hard drive that was in my previous computer that died. I have the hard drive connected to my new pc via a docking station. Is there anyway to pull that information from the old drive since it's not the actual boot drive?

Thank in advance for your assistance.

Hello,

Your Firefox profile folder stores your bookmarks and history in the places.sqlite file. The bookmarkbackups subfolder contains automatically-created bookmark backups. These may not be the most up-to-date set of bookmarks.

Your old profile folder can probably be found under

<DRIVE LETTER>:\Users\<USER NAME>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<RANDOM LETTERS>.default\

Or if you had Windows XP, then it's

<DRIVE LETTER>:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<RANDOM LETTERS>.default\

If you don't have any new bookmarks in your current profile,

If you have new bookmarks in your current profile, first export them in HTML format. Then restore your old bookmarks using either of the above methods. Lastly, import your newer bookmarks from the HTML file.

Note that the "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and later Windows 7+ versions are hidden folders.
