Hi,

Today I couldn't access certain sites like my university site and google (had to use yahoo to search). I tried restarting FF in safe mode, reseted FF to factory settings, deleted FF and erased all its data and reinstalled FF23.......

But it still doesn't solve the problem. I have no problems accessing these same sites with another browser. When I access these sites with FF, with by clicking search on my search bar or clicking a bookmark or hyperlink, FF just gives me no response, as if I didn't click anything. If I click to open the link in a new tab, it just displays a blank tab as if I've just pressed Ctrl + T

Can anyone help me with this please? Thanks.

Hello ashash, check if your firewall or your security software blocks firefox access for the specific sites.

thank you

You can try to reset (power off/on) the router.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Thanks for the replies.

I did try all the programs except kasperky because i'd need to pay for it right and I did remove a lot of stuff but clicking search on google just doesn't produce any response.

I mean, I'm not even getting an error, the tab icon/image spins and just stops.

I tried following anything I could under "Only Mozilla applications are having problems" but it still doesn't solve it.

I did Connection settings, turned off my firewalls and ms defender, DNS prefetching, Accessing a router and Session expired but I still have the problem.

Can you access these pages via a website like Google Translate and a random source language?

Thanks, after reading the article I tried starting Windows in safe mode with networking and FF loaded the pages! So I now I'm going to rescan everything in safemode.

I can't translate any page by dragging the link. Not with any browser I'm using. Besides, I've had a problem of not being able to pronounce the translated words (by clicking the speaker) using certain browsers for some time.

Thanks for your help everyone

Note that also your security software is disabled in Windows Safe Mode, so that is also a likely candidate for this issue.

If it works in Windows Safe mode then you have a problem with other software, possibly security software or a system driver, that is running on your computer.
Make sure that you have the latest updates of your security software and major hardware drivers.

You can use the MSConfig program or the Autoruns utility to see which software and services are getting started.

I've tried disabling stuff but eventually i started having problems with my network drivers, having too many of it appear in device manager, and somehow I get some IP address assigned to me too under "Use the following IP address"

I tried disabling all the unused network drivers from Vmware and VirtualBox but my touchpad stopped working.

I'm surprised because, I've been disabling startup processes for a long time using CCleaner and I've never had problems because I make sure I know what I'm disabling before doing anything. Moreover, the last step was done with a Dell technician inspecting my Autoruns for careless mistakes, since windows found a problem with the network adapter after I clicked troubleshoot when I couldn't connect to a wireless network (or a LAN one either)

So I resorted to restoring my computer to the only restore point I have, 2 hours before I started this topic --- And I could browse the websites again with FF!

However that very night FF went back to normal.

For now I've disabled all security software during startup except for MSE and updated all the databases. I've searched for updates for my network adapters using device manager...

The problem is still there.......
