I can no longer bookmark any webpage I want to; Firefox is only allowing me to bookmark certain pages.

I used to be able to bookmark any page I wanted to bookmark. In the past week, "Bookmark This Page" in the Bookmarks menu doesn't work all the time, just sporadically. The little Bookmarking star in the URL window doesn't always work either. I tried resetting Firefox, uninstalling any add-ons, deleting a bunch of bookmarks in case I had too many- none of these things work. In addition, if I go to History, the short list of previous webpages that I've recently visited is gone, too.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
