Is there a way to have thunderbird be a icon in the taskbar to show when you have messages in your mailbox? It's very convenient to be able to look in the bottom right corner and see a number which indicates you have mail. Is there a way to do that with thunderbird? Thanks in advance for any advice.

when new messages arrive:

  • select 'Show an alert'
  • select 'Show a tray icon'
  • click on OK.
