After the recent firefox update a few days ago, as soon as I open my browser, my homepage is automatically reset to bing. How do I fix this?

Firefox updated a few days ago. Every time I now open the firefox browser, bing is set to my homepage. When I reset my homepage, it will work for that session, then as soon as I close the browser and reopen it, it's back to bing. Why is this happening and how can I fix it? What's the point of the homepage if I have to reset it every time I want to use the internet?

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

  * Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  • Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  • Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  • Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  • Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

if the issue is still not resolved afterwards, please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there. finally, run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.
