In this and the last two iterations of Firefox, when I try to "Save As", I get a completely blank dialogue box and the entire program locks up, necessitating shutting it down from TaskManager (Windows 8.1) and restarting, losing whatever I was working on. It only happens on the first session of the day. Thereafter it works properly. This happens with downloads (through IDM) and simple single pages of information. I have done a Reset but nothing changes.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the <Alt Key> to bring up the tool bar. Then Tools > Options > Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart.

Fred--

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that the last time I had a problem. When I just checked, it was still off so the solution must be elsewhere. Keep coming with the suggestions and I'll try them.
