How do i change the spellingchecker for outgoing messages from English into Dutch?

My messagetext in Dutch appears with most of the words red underlined. Only words that in that lettercombination exists in English are not underlined. E.g. "in" and "wonder" exist in both languages and are not underlined. "Het" is the Dutch counterpart of "The" and is red underlined. I have no need for a spellingchecker in Dutch, so I don't want my texts to look like letters in a box of red snakes. How can I repair that?

Chosen solution

In Thunderbird on Windows, go to Tools|Options|Composition|Spelling where you can disable spell check altogether, or download other dictionaries should you change your mind.

I don't know if there's an easy way to switch between multiple languages/dictionaries. I haven't tried it, not being multilingual myself. But simply having no spell check at all might cause the least amount of pain.

@Zenos,

Although I work with a mac mini server it worked. Go to tools and search for spelling checker. You get a list with checkers. Of course I choose the Dutch dictionary and installed it. I went back to mij testmassage, clicked right and choose the Dutch version. It worked.

It is also very easy to switch between English and Dutch checkers and I think it will be very easy to install more languages and switch between them.

Thanks, Joop36
