Firefox super slow, have tried all fixes I can think of
Running Firefox 30, it loads everything extremely slowly. Chrome and IE load pages almost instantly.
I've tried cleaning out malware, clearing cache, resetting, changing settings in Firefox and nothing has helped the problem. I also am not running a firewall and nothing in my antivirus is blocking Firefox.
Also doubtful that it's the computer, it's 4 months old running 8gb ram and a 2t hard drive.
Was beginning to doubt that this page would load, now I'm hoping it'll allow me to post this.
Everything was running fine, until I accidentally let it update to 30.
Any ideas?
Very frustrating.

Hi artisticjen, Thank you for your question, and this is very frustrating!
The one thing I did not read that you tried was creating a new profile. Sometimes a large profile can cause large load times, however you have already reset Firefox so it might not make much difference. Use multiple profiles in Thunderbird
You can also try to update your graphics and webgl drivers in Firefox. Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL
Please post back with your results, it could help other users as well.

Firefox is slow - How to make it faster The article covers the steps you can take to make Firefox run faster.
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Everything is up to date.
I tried alot of things in that article.
I'm not running a firewall right now.
Yet the pages go into loading lala land or only partially load. While the same pages load quickly on Chrome and IE.

After I updated to v30, I found there was no internet. After an hour, I found the cause. The installer had changed some of my settings. One was my proxy. BUT, my original setting was NO proxy. I changed it back to fix it.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;
Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences
Then Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites and see if there is still a problem. Then restart.
