OK, while i visited the site i was getting a message, it was asking me to let the site install cookies.

Try toclear both cookies and the cache.

Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  • Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  • Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  • Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  • From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  • Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Hello Aman Routh,

wow that was a quick reply, thanks. No I only get these advertisements on one website viz. www.nu.nl. Not when I open other Dutch newspaper sites like www.ad.nl.

Hi Aman,

your remark about accepting cookies on website www.nu.nl made me think. I changed the standard setting for cookies in not accepting advertisments from any company. Choose then for Custom Settings, Save and voila no more Russian pictures and/or text shown on this website.

Many thanks for helping me out.

Regards from me from Thailand.

Maybe also do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
