Problems with a website

On the upload files box of a website, I see the message "Activate Silverlight." When I click on it, I get a message saying "allow now" or "allow and remember." After I click on "allow now" the upload files box is blank, and the browse and upload buttons are not there.

I tried the same website in both Chrome and Internet Explorer, and they work perfectly. I am not prompted to activate anything, and all of the buttons are there.

Can someone offer a fix other than using another browser? I have Windows 8.1.
