I updated Firefox and lost all my bookmarks.
I updated my old MacBook from OSX 10.5.8 to 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) this week. I updated Firefox as suggested and everything worked fine. But today, when I signed on, I got a weird, old version of Firefox -- version 3.6.13, something I hadn't used in several years. The really bad part -- all my bookmarks are missing. I re-updated to the newest Firefox I could use (31.0) but the bookmarks are still gone. I've gone back through Time Machine and restored to the version I had last week, but the bookmarks are missing from that version, too. Any idea what's going on? Thanks for any and all help.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
