How to access entire ldap address book out-of-the box
My issue is two fold, online and offline.
When Thunderbird is online, the LDAP address book does not list all entries. You have to type in a search query to have the LDAP address book list any addresses at all. Is it possible to have an empty query listing all entries per default?
When Thunderbird is offline, the entire LDAP address book is available through the replicate function. Unfortunately, this only works if you manually switch the Thunderbird to offline mode. Is it possible to access the offline version of the LDAP address book when the internet connection is broken down, without manually setting Thunderbird to offline mode?
My fears are that both questions above requires a software change. If so, are the features above in plans, or are potential possible, or are they absolutely no-goes?

Can you please edit your post so it only has one question and make new posts for each additional question? That helps a lot in keeping each message focused and saves volunteer contributors valuable time.
I am answering your first question.
LDAP is sometimes used in large directories, as such the default is not to display search results for all entries by default. I believe if you make the default query string "." or "*" (without quotes) you can have them all displayed. There is a long-standing bug report about this with some more details.
If you are not the admin, ask your admin about this, there may be restrictions in place that prevent doing it.
