Win Xp Sp3 Firefox 32.0.3

I can't get my mp3's on Box.net to play. This link opens up a player but when I push the "Play" button, nothing happens.

https://app.box.com/s/s2yq8eokzcrihprv63yl

In the Web Developer console, I see a message saying that the file can not be decoded.

f_21818880347 Media resource https://app.box.com/preview/f_21818880347.mp3 could not be decoded.

This problem is new. Firefox always worked before. I'm just not sure how long I've had the problem without knowing about it.

Chosen solution

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

This is an error message that comes from the HTML5 media player. You can try to disable the HTML5 media player for this type of files (mp3) to see if the Flash player works better.

You can toggle this pref to false on the about:config page with a double-click.

  • media.directshow.enabled = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

After changing "media.directshow.enabled" to false, the audio still doesn't play when I press the "Play" button but I don't get the same message in the Web Developer Console now.

I updated Flash too but still no change.

Other browsers like Cometbird seem to play the audio file ok.

Disabling Adblock Plus solved the problem.
