I don't want to autoload all tabs after a recovery, but I do want to load the current tab that I clicked on. The address bar contains the URL but the page is blank. I have to click Reload or press F5 to load the current tab.

Usually Firefox does request the page when you click on a tab that you've restored but not yet activated. When did this stop working -- after an update, or installing a new add-on, or other software change?

It started a few versions ago, can't remember exactly when. I don't think it's because of an add-on.

If I restart Firefox the problem sometimes goes away.

Do you use Windows? The next time you see this, could you press Alt+f to call up the classic File menu and make sure that "Work Offline" is not selected?
