I have 13 signatures composed by me in AppleMail account and now located in my Documents folder that I wish to transfer to my new Thunderbird mail account. i have used "select tool>Settings" and the "attach This Signature" option. Have 'clicked' "Choose" button; attachment 'icon' in "upper right hand corner of message ... nothing works. Please explain why. Thanks for your reply.

Thunderbird requires either plain text or HTML for a signature. I don't know what Apple Mail uses.

We don't normally "attach" a signature. You can define a static signature per account - see under Account Settings. If you want to be able to pick from a set of multiple signatures, you'll probably need an add-on such as Signature Switch.

There is some guidance on signatures in Thunderbird here: http://en.flossmanuals.net/thunderbird/composing-messages/
