I just started having this problem yesterday. Pressed enter key after typing in the address bar and it does nothing, no response at all. URL just sits in the address bar. There are no error messages. I select a website from the address bar dropdown, no response. I click the little arrow on the right, still no response.

I've tried everything that was suggested from previous enter-key-related address bar problems such as running safe-mode, refreshing, getting rid of add-ons, unchecking "hardware acceleration" and even uninstalled and reinstall Firefox. Sadly, only clicking on bookmarks will get it to load a page. It is not my computer security or firewall problem. Chrome works fine too.

What is going on?

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
