Firefox updated this morning and now nothing loads when I open the program (not even the Mozilla homepage will open).

Please fix this. I don't like Explorer but I have to use it at this point.

You can check if you can start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift/Options key.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I can see that the add-ons are disabled when I try to use safe mode, but I still have a white screen and nothing will come up even if I use .com addresses.

Try to start Firefox with the about:blank page by creating a copy of the current Firefox desktop shortcut and add a space and -url "about:blank" to the Target field in the Properties of the shortcut.
