I am trying to convert to thunderbird from Eudora 7. I set up 2 email accounts manually and added some identities. Then I imported accounts and the address book from Eudora 7. The 2 accounts I set up manually have disappeared from the folder pane. If I go to tools/accounts they are there. Also I can go to "file/get new messages for" I can retrieve them. Luckily, when I set them up, I had the mail go to local folders, so I can read the messages. Somehow I found an article on using the config editor and I tried that, but it did not fix the problem. Now I can't find that article. Is it possible to fix this, or should I delete the accounts and re-add them?

As You don't tell what you did in config and you cant correct it (?) , I would try a new profile.

  • Run (Window-key + R) : Thunderbird -P
  • Make a new profile, don't set up any accounts
  • Import accounts, address-book ...... from Eudora
  • Add new accounts or import them from your old profile
  • Import data from your old profile.

re :Luckily, when I set them up, I had the mail go to local folders,

This sounds like you have created pop mail accounts and selected to use a Global Inbox as Local Folders. In which case everything sounds correct.

If this is correct then you will see all mail accounts in the Tools > Account Settings window, but you will not see any individual Pop mail accounts in the Folder Pane because you are using Local Folders as a catch all Inbox.

So the question is - Are they POP mail accounts ? Are they set up as Global accounts ?

To check Global Accounts have this setting: Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings click on 'Adanced' button This will be selected: Inbox for different account Local Folders'

If you do not want to use Global Inbox then select 'Inbox for this servers account' click on OK click on OK.
