When I click on a link to submit an email from a website, why do hundreds of tabs start opening?

For example, I was using my MacBook Pro, using OS X 10.9.5, my browser is Yahoo, and looking at the WPR website, wanted to submit a photo from a link on the site. When you click on the link, suddenly an infinite amount of tabs start opening up, yikes. Quick as I can, I must QUIT Firefox to stop this, or restart. If instead, I copy the link and paste it in my Yahoo email, and send that way, it's just fine.

If you're using Yahoo Mail, make use the "action" is set to Use Yahoo! Mail, not Firefox.
