on 4/28/15 this pc stopped logging in to my T'bird account. The same think happened to another pc at approximately the same time.using pop mail server, incoming.verizon.net port 110. for SMTP I use outgoing.verizon.net port 587

There is no such thing as a 'T'bird account'. You only do have an account with your email provider, and you use Thunderbird to access that account.
Check with Verizon what are the correct server settings, and make sure that is what's in your Thunderbird account settings. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-receive-messages
