When I open Thunderbird it gives me a failed log in notice box but the email it is trying to access is my old email from my previous internet service provider. I set up a new identity and email in thunderbird but it still tries to log into the old one. How do I erase the previous email address?

Tools|Account Settings, select Account Actions, then Remove Account.

Note that the account will disappear, along with all the messages in it. Store them somewhere else such as Local Folders if you want to keep them.

I tried that but it did not work. I will remove all accounts and start over and see if that works.

Thanks. It works now. But now I get a notification box that requires me to override the security because the certificate of my IP is unrecognized. But when I tell it to permanently store the exception for this override it does not, it keeps popping up over and over again. How do I get it to accept my command to accept the certificate every time?
