My service provider has upgraded and requires me to change server settings. I did this successfully on one desktop and now want to do this on the second and third desktop where I also want my email accounts available.

When I attempt, I get an Account Wizard window saying "An account with this name already exists. Please enter a different account name." And I am prevented from making the server setting changes on the second desktop.

How do I circumvent this?

Thanks you, DJBrewster

Chosen solution

open the config editor and search for entries with that name

There should be two entries with mail.server.serverXX.name (where XX is a number.) change on of them and try and edit the setting again.

Right click the account in the folder pane,. select settings In the server settings for the account change what needs to be changed.

Sounds to me like you have been adding another account using the new account wizard.

The problem persists on one of my desktops. Thunderbird 38.2.0 is installed. Any other suggestions for this?

Thanks,
