My e-mail account is with Thunderbird. My internet account is with Charter. Ever since Bresnan became Charter I have difficulty sending my e-mail with my nonee@bresnan.net address.

Have you checked with Charter about this? Also see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages
