I just upgraded to version 42.0, and even though my mozilla.cfg file, prefs.js file, and the about:config page show that app.update.enabled and app.update.auto are false, the 'Check for Updates' button in Help > About Firefox is still clickable.

Is there a new setting that needs to be changed?

Thanks.

The prefs only apply to the behavior of Firefox when you start the program and sets whether Firefox does a check for updates or when the times has elapsed. If you go to Help > About then there is always a way to bypass the default setting and do a manual check. I'm not aware of a way to avoid that apart from not having write permissions for the Firefox profile folder and not running the background maintenance service.

Got it. Thanks. Just seems odd since a previous version (27.0), the button to update was greyed out.
