What is the blinking 'alarm' icon on a tab mean?
Firefox was just updated to v 42.0. I now have what appears to be a blinking alarm icon on the tab. What does this mean and how do I access any data tied to this alarm?

Hi, is this what you mean - Mute sound in Firefox tabs. It's a new feature that has just been introduced in v42.

Thanks Scribe. This is on the right subject but the icon is continuously blinking. Clicking on it with either mouse button does nothing.

Attached is screenshot. NOTE- as stated in original question, volume icon is blinking. This does not show in screen shot.
I do not see a volume icon. Where is it in the picture?
On the page tab...upper left of screenshot.
You see that icon if there is a plugin or HTML5 media player playing sound on the tab, so if you have a lot of tabs open then you can see immediately which tabs are making sound. You can click this icon to mute the sound.
New: Indicator added to tabs that play audio with one-click muting
If you want to hide this icon then you can set this pref to false on the about:config page.
- browser.tabs.showAudioPlayingIcon = false
Classic Theme Restorer: Advanced > [] Audio playing icon on tabs
Cor-el, how do I get to the about:config' page?'
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
Thanks, that stopped the icon from blinking but it still remains visible. That is good enough for now. The blinking was a distraction.
