Can Mozilla update Firefox to allow bbciplayer and itviplayer to work?

My bbciplayer and itviplayer do not work using Firefox as my (default) browser.

Unfortunately if I make Google Chrome my default browser, Sun Java does not work, and I need Java for online bridge playing.
