can't address message by double click

more options

Yesterday I could add an addressee to a message by double clicking the name in the address book. Today I can't. I think I got a new version of Thunderbird a day or so ago, ver 38.4.0 this may be when the problem showed up. I can still address messages by right clicking on the name and selecting To (or Cc, or Bcc) or type it in. What do I need to do to get the double click to work again?

Thanks, tumbleweed49

Just wanted to let you know I found, and solved, the problem. Under Mouse in the Control Center the Double Click Setting was set all the way to Short. Moved it over toward the middle and everything works just fine.

Double-clicking in the Contacts Sidebar still works for me here in TB 38.4.0

What if you try it in Thunderbird's Safe Mode?

Thanks for the suggestion Zeons, just tried it and there is no change in safe mode add-ons disabled. When I try to double click a name in the address sidebar the first click unhighlights the "To" line in the message (or the Cc/Bcc line if selected) and the second click does nothing. I have tried both of my address lists, different senders, and different emails to forward or reply to as well as new messages. It doesn't work the same way each time.

I have reinstalled Thunderbird and rebooted Linux, no changes.

Using Linux here too. LMDE Betsy to be precise. Strange.

I am using Mint 13, kind of old but still supported. If it is a Linux problem I can just download the most recent LTR and start using that, I was going to do that anyway in a month or so.
