Firefox won't launch on my Mac as profile is missing but I have no profile folder or .ini files anywhere.
I had a malware issue and Googled how to resolve it. It worked but now firefox won't open - just gives the message that Profile is missin. The support site says to delete .ini files in profile manager folder but I don't have those files or a folder anywhere. I just have the application. I've tried downloading newer version of Firefox, I even downloaded Profile Manager but nothing is working.

hi noodle12, your profile folder is placed in a location which is hidden by default on os x systems: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders#Mac_OS_X
I managed to find all hidden files but there are still no .ini files or any profile manager files. I still have only the Firefox application. The same is true on my macbook. Is this because I downloaded it from the internet rather than it coming preloaded on the device?
You can also check the permissions to make sure that you have full read/write access.
- Mac: *~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
- Mac: *~/Library/Caches/Firefox/
In Mac OS X v10.7 and later, the ~/Library folder is a hidden folder.
There are no hidden files and no Application Support for Firefox. As it says in the initial problem - I only have the application. Absolutely nothing else.
If you get a message about Profile is missing then this means that the profiles.ini is present, but there is no profile folder found that is designated in profiles.ini as Default=1.
What steps did you perform to get rid of that malware?
Did it include deleting files or folders in the Firefox profile folder?
