When I go into "Write" for new message there is no Tool bar so therefore cannot send an email. Have done what you have said about 'Customise' but not there.
Have lost menu bar when I go into 'Write' a new email so there is no 'send' button. It also happens when I go into a 'reply'. All it comes up with is 'from' and 'to'. Have done what you have suggested but there is no tool bar is cannot go into View etc. I can go into it if I just look at my emails and have gone into 'Customise' and restored default but nothing happens. Please could you advise what to do. Thank you.

Open a Write window. Press the alt key if your Menu Bar is missing also. From the Menu Bar select View-Toolbars and click the toolbars back on. Send is on the Composition toolbar.
I have done what you have said and the menu bar comes back on but the 'sent' is not highlighted so no further forward. Thank you.
Please note: 'Send' button will appear 'greyed out' when you first open a new Write message. This is because no 'TO' field has been completed/selected with an email address, so you cannot send yet.
Enter an email address in the TO field and the 'Send' button should immediately become ready for use.
The send button is not active until you enter something in the address field.
Have done what you have said but think there must be a problem with the mail. I'm able to send but does not appear in my Sent box and saved in Draft. Box comes up with a heading 'Add Security Exception'. Did come up with something about address which I think it means the server. Then the address is 'smt.p-mail.outlook.com.587' and then a box says 'Get Certificate'. Not sure what is going on. Sorry to be a nuisance.
just to check your settings and make sure you did not type a typo error. In Thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information clickon 'Copy text to clipboard' in this forum question, right click in a 'post a Reply' text box and select 'Paste.

There is no Send on my Composition toolbar which I can't find. When I go to view/Toolbars Menu, Mail, Quickfilter, and Status are all checked. When I look at Customize, there is no send button.
Maybe you should look at the Toolbars in a Write window where the Composition toolbar with the Send button would be. Since you are seeing a Mail toolbar you are in the main window.
I have checked there and don't find help. What I have resorted to doing is hitting F10 each time I write a message to get any tool bar to appear and then under File hitting Send Now. This is significantly annoying to me and makes using Thunderbird pain.
The only way I get a toolbar when in the Write mode is to hit F10. Then I can go to File and hit Send Now. I can't even get the toolbar to come up whenever I want to write a new message.
You have the instructions. I cannot begin to guess why you are having problems following them.

- Open a Write window.
- Press the 'ALT' key on the keyboard to get a temporary 'Menu Bar'.
- 'View' > 'Toolbars' and select 'Menu Bar' to set as permanent.
If you cannot see the 'Composition Toolbar'
- 'View' > 'Toolbars' > select 'Composition Toolbar'
- 'Send' button is on the 'Composition Toolbar'.
Thank you for finally getting me to an answer that worked.
