visited websites are not being saved in "History" Contacted anti-virus (Kaspersky) used on my computer. They suggested adding Mozilla Firefox to a list of trusted applications in my anti-virus software. I did that, but the problem is still there. I can view the last 15 web sites I visited when I click on the "History" choice on the menu bar. However if I want to choose the "Show All History" there are no previous web sites shown for any selections in the library. I don't think this problem is with my anti-virus program. When I updated Firefox a few days ago. I lost all bookmarks. I was able to recover them from backup files on my computer, but this problem with loss of web sites in the library remains. Do you have any other suggestions?

History and cookies can be removed or not recorded several ways;

  • 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
  • 2) Privacy settings
    (Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar.)
  • 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
  • 4) Mal-ware.

Separate Issue; Your System Details shows;

Installed Plug-ins

Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 12.0.2.122 Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 11.6.4.634
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Is Firefox recording your current history properly?

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backups of files that you choose.
