I have a few profiles set up and have worked fine for years. I am using Thunderbird 38.6.0. Today one of the profiles sends me an error message saying: "Sending of password for user grizpatch did not succeed. Mail server pop.cox.net responded: invalid user name or password." I can log onto my account via webmail and the password I've used is good. I've deleted the saved passwords but that did not help. All the other profiles have no problem.

Just so that we are on the same wavelength, you are not talking about Profiles. Each profile can hold several mail accounts. You are talking about 'mail accounts'.

Please post this info, so the forum understands your current settings. In Thunderbird Help > TRoubleshooting Information click on 'copy text to clipboard' in this forum question, right click in a 'Post a REply' text box and select 'Paste'. you can edit/remove all info on fonts and printers, but nothing else.

Then state which account number you are talking about.
